Ramos Picks Up Win in Women's Tennis Shortened Loss to Golden Eagles
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team dropped a shortened 4-1 decision to Charleston (WV) on Tuesday evening.
UC won each of the three doubles matches to take the opening point of the meet, as junior Mariaspa Kotsiou and freshman Lauren Ceballos had the closest score at 6-4.
The singles competition featured several close matches, including a couple that could not be completed due to darkness and time constraints. The Golden Eagles won at Nos. 1, 3, and 6 to put the meet result in hand, while junior Julia Ramos earned FSU's lone point with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 win at the second spot. Freshman Lauren Ceballos put up a fight in her 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 loss, while classmate Lorena Pintar (7-6, 4-6, 6-6) and freshman Patricia Castejon (4-6, 4-4) each were not able complete their matches.
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 7-9 on the year, while Charleston improves to 13-4. The Bobcats are back on the court to face West Virginia State at home on Friday, April 19 at 4 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
