Diaz, Alcala Advance to Quarterfinals, Boban Takes Win in ITA Atlantic Regionals

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team concluded their weekend at the ITA Atlantic Regional Tournament on Sunday, earning four combined victories.  
 
On the first day of matches, juniors Cole Alcala and German Diaz advanced all the way to the Quarterfinal round in the doubles bracket, winning 6-3 and 7-5 to make it into Saturday. Their run came to an end with a 6-2 loss to the eventual seventh-seeded finalists from Fairmont State.
 
In singles play, Alcala won his opening match 6-1, 6-4, but fell 6-4, 6-2 in the Round of 32 to end his tournament. Also picking up a win was sophomore Viktor Boban, who took a 6-3, 7-5 first round victory, but lost 6-3, 6-3 the next day. Boban also had a doubles match with senior Matt Bolen, which they dropped 6-4.
 
FSU kicks off team match play on Wednesday, September 25 as they travel to District of Columbia at 2 PM. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
