Women's Basketball Placed Second in MEC Preseason Poll
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Basketball team was selected second in the MEC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll that was announced on Tuesday by the league office.
Frostburg is coming off an outstanding second season under Head Coach Jenna Eckleberry, where the team ended with an 18-11 overall record and a 14-6 conference record. The Bobcats finished third in the MEC a year ago, behind conference tournament champions Fairmont State, and West Virginia State. FSU captured the most wins last season overall, and in conference, since the program's 2009-10 season, as Eckleberry helped Frostburg double their win total from the year prior, for now the most for the program at the Division II level.
The Bobcats hold 81 points in the poll, sliding in between the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State (99) and WVSU (79). Fairmont received 10 first place votes, while Frostburg was tallied with one.
FSU opens their season on their home floor in the Jim Crawley Conference Challenge, where the team welcomes in Winston-Salem State on Friday, November 8 at 7 PM. To round out the tournament, the Bobcats will face Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, November 9 at 3 PM. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
