Seven Tally Wins as Men's Tennis Concludes Fall Season at Cardinal Invitational
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team capped off their fall season on Sunday, competing against Catholic University and Harford Community College.
In the No. 1 doubles spot, the junior pairing of Cole Alcala and German Diaz defeated their opponents from HCC by a score of 7-5. Sophomore Viktor Boban and senior Matt Bolen were the only other duo to pick up a doubles victory on the day, taking their set again Catholic 6-4.
Diaz and Alcala both secured wins in their lone single matches of the day, with the former beating Harford 8-2 in the No. 1 singles slot, and the latter taking the 6-2 win over his CUA opponent in the No. 2 hole. Boban and Bolen also earned singles victories, with the former playing in two matches and the latter seeing one. Boban took the 8-3 victory over the Cardinals and a 6-1 win over the Fighting Owls, while Bolen was credited also with a 8-3 win, but over HCC. Junior Noah Fisher earned a win on the day in singles competition, winning his match 6-2 over Catholic, as junior Jason Haley put up a solid effort in his singles contest, taking down his opponent from HCC with a tight 8-7 score. Freshman Sammy Baunoch picked up his first collegiate win in a Bobcat uniform, seeing an 8-3 win over the Cardinals.
Frostburg concludes their fall action, standing with a 1-0 record with a win over Shepherd, as the team competed in two tournaments as well.
