Frostburg State Picked Fourth in MEC Football Preseason Poll
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference announced its 2025 MEC Preseason Football Poll on Tuesday, where Frostburg State was picked to finish fourth after a vote of the league's head coaches.
Two-time defending MEC champions Charleston (WV) was picked to win the league with seven out of a possible nine first-place votes, with Fairmont State finishing second with one first-place vote and Glenville State in third, also receiving a vote for first. Following Frostburg in order from fifth to ninth were West Virginia State, Wheeling, West Liberty, Concord, and West Virginia Wesleyan.
In addition to the release of the preseason poll, the MEC will virtually preview the season on the conference's social media channels and YouTube page. Each institution's head coach will provide a look into their upcoming season starting in reverse order of the poll on Friday, August 15, continuing on weekdays until rounding out Wednesday, August 27. Frostburg Head Coach Eric Wagoner's interview will be released on Friday, August 22.
FSU is coming off a season in which it went 6-5 overall and 4-5 in Mountain East play for seventh place in the final standings. The Bobcats open their season on Saturday, August 30 for a 6 p.m. contest against PSAC foe Shepherd, with the MEC opening game coming three weeks later on Saturday, September 20 at 1 p.m. against West Liberty.
