FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State Director of Athletics Troy A. Dell has unveiled nine brand new women's locker rooms prior to the beginning of the 2016-17 athletic year.

Dell announced the completion of the massive renovation project of the first floor of the Cordts Physical Education Center on Tuesday morning.

The 10 teams that will benefit from the new unveiling are cheerleading, field hockey, women's lacrosse, softball, volleyball, women's basketball, women's soccer, women's tennis and women's cross country and women's track & field.

All nine locker rooms contain custom wood lockers, brand new carpet, sofas and tables, along with custom sound systems that include flat screen televisions, DVD players and external audio/video connections.

Team Captain Cairo Keenan - "We appreciate the opportunity for the cheer team to finally have a locker room. In years past, it has been a little difficult for the team in terms of storage, changing arrangements, etc. It's so nice to have that "safe place" where we can come together as a team outside of the gym that many teams take for granted. The locker room turned out just how we envisioned it and it accommodates us very well."

Head coach Carly Sweeney – "The new women's locker rooms are another example of the continued progression of FSU athletics. Our women now have a space to call their own. This enhancement will help further develop our teams in the off season and aid in the recruiting process as well."

Head Coach Hayley Engster – "The Frostburg Women's Lacrosse team is ecstatic about the addition of the new women's locker rooms. Not only is it a place for our current team to call home year round, but it separates us on the recruiting end as well. To have a perspective student-athlete come on to campus and see how invested our school is in athletics is definitely a selling point. With new equipment to watch game film, this space will serve as a multipurpose room and help take our team to the next level."

Head coach Becky Fletcher – "The locker rooms turned out better than we imagined.  We all enjoyed the process from team design to watching the progress of the construction, but I think my favorite part was revealing the locker room to the team. Having their own space for meetings, film, studying and hanging out is something they are already taking advantage of."

Women's Basketball

Head coach Carrie Saunders – "The women's basketball program is taking another positive step towards reaching our goals of rebuilding the program and putting Frostburg women's basketball back where it should be with the addition of this new locker room. The new space not only gives a place for our current student-athletes to call home, but also gives past and future Bobcats the ability to embrace new traditions."

Head coach Brian Parker – "Frostburg State and our athletic department have certainly made a significant investment in the quality of the female athlete experience here at FSU and our current student-athletes are very thankful.  They and their future teammates are truly worthy of that investment and will continue to prove it with their consistent quality performances on the field, in the classroom, and even after leaving FSU."
