Frostburg Repeats 2nd in 2024-25 MEC Commissioner's Cup
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference announced the results of the 2024-25 Commissioner's Cup on Tuesday with Frostburg State repeating in second place out of 11 institutions.
The University of Charleston sits at the top of the cup for the eighth consecutive season, showing an all-sports rating of 0.9594595, topping runner-up Frostburg State (0.6783439) and third-place Fairmont State (0.6416667).
The Commissioner's Cup standings are compiled using an "all-sports rating." This rating is determined by a formula that awards points to a school for its regular season finish equal to the number of teams per sport sponsored by the MEC, and then divided by the number of sports offered by the institution. A bonus point is given for winning the conference tournament (in applicable sports).
Out of 21 eligible sports in the MEC, Frostburg won the women's lacrosse conference championship and had the highest-scoring MEC men's and women's teams at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference/Mountain East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The Bobcats also finished atop the North Division women's soccer standings.
Since joining the Division II level and the MEC in 2019, FSU has slowly climbed up the Commissioner's Cup standings, going from 12th in its inaugural season to 9th, 7th, 4th, and now runners up in the past two seasons.
