148 Winter/Spring Sport Student-Athletes Earn MEC Academic Honors

The Mountain East Conference today released its All-Academic Team and Commissioner's Honor Roll for winter and spring sports during the 2022-23 academic year.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- The Mountain East Conference today released its All-Academic Team and Commissioner's Honor Roll for winter and spring sports during the 2022-23 academic year.

A total of 148 Frostburg athletes received one of the distinctions, with 82 named Academic All-MEC and 66 receiving Commissioner's Honor Roll. 

To be a member of the All-MEC Academic Team, the student-athlete must be a member of the active roster and have a grade-point average of 3.70-4.00 in the semester of their sports championship season. To qualify for the Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a member of the active roster and post a grade-point average between 3.25-3.69 in the semester of their championship season.

Softball led all FSU sports with an astounding 15 Academic All-MEC members to go with five on the Commissioner's Honor Roll for a total of 20 athletes. Baseball was next on the list and tops for the male sports, featuring eight athletes on Academic All-MEC and 11 Commissioner's Honor Roll members for 19 total athletes.
