Men's Tennis Opens Match Play with Road Sweep of Shepherd
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis Team opened their first match of the 2024-25 season with a 7-0 sweep on the road against Shepherd.
In doubles play, two pair sophomore Viktor Boban and senior Matt Bolen and third pair juniors Jason Haley and Noah Fisher each took full 6-0 scores to take the doubles point. Fellow juniors Cole Alcala and German Diaz made it a clean slate with a 6-2 win at the top spot heading into singles play.
All six Bobcats recorded straight-set victories in winning each of their matches, with Fisher picking up a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Diaz and Boban each went 6-1, 6-1, while Bolen (6-2, 6-1), Haley (6-3, 6-0), and Alcala (6-0, 6-4) rounded out the meet.
With the win, Frostburg begins the year 1-0, while Shepherd falls to 0-2. The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday, October 2 to face UDC in a previously rescheduled match at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
