Men's Tennis Falls just Shy in Home Contest with Senators

The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team dropped a close home match to Davis & Elkins on Friday afternoon, falling with a final of 4-3.

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team dropped a close home match to Davis & Elkins on Friday afternoon, falling with a final of 4-3. 
 
The sophomore duo of German Diaz and Cole Alcala picked up the lone win for Frostburg in doubles competition, knocking off their opponent in No. 1 doubles with a 6-3 score.  The teams of senior Del Carden and freshman Peter Barun, and junior Matt Bolen and freshman Field Myatt put up solid efforts in their contests, falling by scores of 6-3 and 7-5. 
 
Both teams were evenly matched in singles play, with each team earning three wins.  Alcala took No. 1 singles by a 6-1, 6-4 final, with Diaz going for a strong 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 2 hole.  Barun took his match in three sets in the No. 3 spot, fighting back for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory, as Myatt took his contest to three sets as well, falling in the match 6-0, 4-6, 4-6, in No. 4 singles. 
 
With the loss, Frostburg drops to 5-11 on the season, while D&E moves to 6-10.  The Bobcats return to action on Sunday, April 28, going on the road to face West Chester in their regular season finale for a 1 PM match.  For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
