McCoy Sets Indoor Pole Vault Record for Men's Track & Field at Mount Union
ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Frostburg State Men's Indoor Track and Field team competed in the Jim Wuske Invite on Saturday, where they several notable performances.
Freshman Nathan Shields took the lone first place finish for Frostburg on the day, jumping a 7.37m in the long jump for second-best distance all-time in FSU history. In the track events, freshman Ka'Von Turner came in second place in the 60m dash with a 7.00 finish, while freshman Ryan Connelly placed second in the 3000m run with a time of 8:53.86. Junior Tom McCoy tied for second place in the pole vault, going for 4.69m, breaking his own program record for the Bobcats.
Junior Marquise Burks (8.63) and sophomore Mason Reed (8.78) took fourth and fifth place in the 60m hurdles, respectively, with Reed putting himself sixth all-time in the FSU record books. Freshman Jack Hynes finished fourth in the in the 400m dash with a time of 51.98, while freshman Gage Osborne finished fourth in the 1000m run with a 2:39.80 time.
FSU will next travel to Youngstown, Ohio to compete in the Youngstown Mid-Major Invitational on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
