Shields, Mesy, Haines, Turner Win 4x100 in Men's Track & Field Outdoor Opening Meet
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Track & Field team opened their outdoor season at the Stan Romanoksi Open on Friday and Saturday, with multiple top-15 finishes in their first outdoor meet of the year.
Frostburg knotted one first place finish on the day in the track events, with the team of junior Nathaniel Mesy and freshmen Nate Shields, Logan Haines, and Ka'Von Turner running a 43.16 in the 4x100 relay. Mesy (23.21) and Turner (23.34) went on to place second and third, respectively, in the 200 meters, while Haines (23.66) finished eighth. Turner also went for a third place finish in the 100 meters with a 10.84 time, while in the 400 meters Haines slid into 16th place with a 53.63 finish.
In his first outdoor season with the Bobcats, junior Austin Comeaux captured ninth in the 5,000 meters with a finish of 15:39.85, while freshman Nathan Hillhouse ran a 5:20.12 in the 1,500m steeple for 15th place. FSU had three athletes place top-15 in the 1,500 meters, as freshman Rayan Connelly (4:05.57) took ninth with senior Justus LePrevost (4:07.55) right behind him in 10th, while freshman Gage Osborne (4:10.20) clocked in at 15th.
In the 110m hurdles, sophomore Mason Reed and junior Marquise Burks finished 11th and 12th, respectively, with 16.14 and 16.15 times, as Burks tied for third in the high jump at 1.78m. Senior Rondell Carlton placed 10th in the long jump with a jump of 5.97m, while junior Tom McCoy snagged second in the pole vault with a height of 4.25m, with sophomore Ryan Schlauch knotting 12th place with 3.50m. Sophomore Ben Treat stood at sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 14.33m, as freshman Dalton Kasekamp came in 19th in his outdoor debut with a finish of 12.50m and freshman Ire Maboudou came in 19th as well in the men's hammer with a throw of 36.10m.
