Mesy Sets 400m Record, Men's Track & Field Places 4th at MEC Championships

The Frostburg State Men's Track & Field team finished the MEC Outdoor Championships in fourth overall out of ten total teams after the final day of events.

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Track & Field team finished the MEC Outdoor Championships in fourth overall out of ten total teams after the final day of events.
 
Senior Nate Mesy had the top performance for FSU on the afternoon, placing second in the 400 meters, surpassing his previous career high at 47.80 that also set a new program record, held by former standout Adam Alderton since 1997. He joined junior Marquise Burks and freshmen Nate Shields and Ka'Von Turner in earning third in the 4x100 meter dash, setting a season-best 41.34. Then in the 4x400 meter relay, junior Paul James III, sophomore Justin Dowell, freshman Jack Hynes, and Mesy placed third at 3:16.96, topping the team's previous high mark this season by almost 10 seconds.
 
Turner placed fourth in the 100 meters at 10.76, while freshman Ryan Connelly took seventh in the 1,500 meters (4:01.65) and sophomore Mason Reed came eighth in the 110m hurdles (15.74) as the final scoring Bobcats of the day.
 
The men's team next will travel to West Virginia University at their Last Chance meet on Saturday, May 4. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
