McCoy Furthers Pole Vault Record, Several from Men's Track Set Top-10 Marks at Spire Invite

The Frostburg State Men's Indoor Track & Field team traveled on Saturday to compete in the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games.

GENEVA, Ohio. – The Frostburg State Men's Indoor Track & Field team traveled on Saturday to compete in the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games.

Frostburg put up multiple top-15 finishes on the day, with junior Tom McCoy earning the highest finish for the Bobcats, placing third in the pole vault with a personal record and new school record of 4.70m. Freshman Nathan Shields finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 7.02m, while coming in sixth was senior Nathaniel Mesy (49.29) in the 400 meter dash, and seventh in the 3000 meter dash run for a personal record and seventh all-time finish in FSU history was freshman Ryan Connelly (8:44.16). Senior Justus LePrevost finished right behind Connelly in the 3000 meter run in ninth place, with an 8:45.01 time.

Junior Marquise Burks crossed the finish line in 11th place in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.56. Two 12th place finishes came from freshman Logan Haines and Ben Treat, with the former setting a personal record and the seventh best time in Bobcat history in the 400 meter dash with a 50.19 finish, and Treat throwing a 14.55m in the shot put. Frostburg also capped two 14th place finishes on the day in junior Austin Comeaux and freshman Ka'Von Turner. Comeaux set a personal record for the 10th best Frostburg time in the 5000 meter run with a 15:30.00 finish, while Turner ran a 22.47 in the 200 meter dash.

The Bobcats had four others set personal records in junior Caden Jones, freshmen Jaxon Jones and Jack Hynes, and sophomore Travis Hook. C. Jones ran a 4:33.20 mile, while J. Jones ran a 4:34.68 mile and a 2:01.76 in the 800 meter dash, securing a career-high mark in both. Hynes scored a 1:56.43 time in the 800 meter dash for the sixth best time in FSU history, as Hook threw an 11.89m in the shot put.
