Four Earn First Team All-MEC for Men's Track & Field in Best Ever Championship Finish

The Frostburg State men's track team finished in second place at the Mountain East Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, totaling 107 team points.

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – The Frostburg State men's track team finished in second place at the Mountain East Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, totaling 107 team points.
 
Over the two-day championships, FSU had its best showing since joining the MEC, which included 12 top five finishes, with four of those taking first place while also setting six new school records. 
 
In the multi-day heptathlon, junior Marquise Burks racked up 4844 points, setting a new FSU record in winning, as he took either first or second in each of the seven events. He was first in the shot put, high jump and the 60-meter hurdles, setting a new meet record in the shot with a toss of 13.13m. His teammates, sophomore Mason Reed and freshman R.J. Eubanks, took second and fourth, respectively, in helping Frostburg dominate the event. 
 
Freshman Ka'Von Turner had a fine weekend in the sprints, winning the 60-meters with a time of 6.95 seconds, then bringing home third in the 200 meters after clocking in at 21.92. His performance in the 200 was a new program record, as he also ran a 6.87 in the 60 preliminaries to set another new program high. 
 
Continuing his success of the last few years, junior Tom McCoy took first place in the pole vault at 4.85 meters, pushing his program record higher while also setting the MEC meet record and an NCAA provisional mark. Also in the field events, freshman Nathaniel Shields rounded out the top Bobcat finishers, winning the long jump at 6.82 meters.  
 
Senior Nathaniel Mesy hit an NCAA provisional mark and school record in the 400 meters, finishing second at 48.11, as he also was runner-up as part of the 4x400 relay team with junior Paul James and freshmen Logan Haines and Jack Hynes that ran a new FSU record at 3:20.29. Haines set the second-fastest program time in the 200 meters at 22.05, followed by the No. 6-best 400 meters at 49.66. 
 
The distance medley relay team of senior Justus LePrevost, Hynes, and freshmen Gage Osborne and Ryan Connelly finished in third at 10:17.93, the second-fastest in program history. Hynes picked up another solid performance, finishing fifth in the 800 meters at 1:55.39 as the third-best in school history, where freshman Isayah Stewart (1:56.79) entered himself into eighth all-time. Also in the distance events, Osborne put forth the eighth-best mile at 4:21.79. 

In the throws, sophomore Ben Treat took fourth in the shot put with a distance of 14.33 meters, the 10th-best mark in school history.
