Dunster, Mongelluzzo Sweep Weekly MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Awards

The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team swept the MEC Weekly Awards for the first time this season, with senior Meghan Dunster being named MEC Athlete of the Week and senior Isabella Mongelluzzo taking MEC Specialist of the Week, as both were announced on Monday by the league office and are presented by The Health Plan.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team swept the MEC Weekly Awards for the first time this season, with senior Meghan Dunster being named MEC Athlete of the Week and senior Isabella Mongelluzzo taking MEC Specialist of the Week, as both were announced on Monday by the league office and are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Dunster, receiving her first-ever conference award, led Frostburg to a regular season finale victory over West Liberty, setting a season-high overall score of 253.420 in the process.  Dunster competed in a total of six heats that scored at least a 9.20 or above, with five of those heat scores being season-bests.  The Bobcats showed a season-best in the compulsory toss (9.7/10) and tumbling heats (8.45/10), the synchronized pyramid heat (9.75/10), and the team event (84.52), while tying their season-best in the acro 5-element (9.5/10).  As well, Dunster helped FSU to a 9.2/10 in the compulsory acro heat, as well as a 9.35/10 in the acro 7-element and a 9.55/10 in the inversion pyramid heat. 
 
Mongelluzzo participated in all three pyramid heats, as Frostburg scored at least a 9.55 in each heat.  The Bobcats went for a 9.55/10 in the inversion heat, while securing season-best finishes in the synchronized (9.75/10) and open heats (9.85/10).  The event total of 29.15 for FSU is the team's highest of the season by a full point.
