Women's Lacrosse Earns Atlantic Region Six Seed in NCAA Tournament

The NCAA announced the selections for the Division II Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday night to complete the 24-team field.

FROSTBURG, Md. - The NCAA announced the selections for the Division II Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday night to complete the 24-team field.

Having won the Mountain East Conference tournament and securing an automatic bid to the field, Frostburg State received the six-seed in the Atlantic region, setting up a match against three-seeded East Stroudsburg. It is just the second time in program history that FSU will be appearing in the national tournament, having done so as well in the 1992 season, where that year's team went 14-3 overall and appeared in the Elite Eight.

Games are played in single-elimination format, with the first round occurring on Thursday, May 8 in East Stroudsburg at 3 p.m. The PSAC led the Atlantic region with three selections, including conference champion and one seed West Chester, while Slippery Rock, their opponent in the championship game, received the two seed. The region was filled out by SAC members Wingate and Limestone, the two participants in their conference championship.
