BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. - Junior forward Mike Montano was named the MEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, as announced by the league office.
Montano, in his first pair of games as an FSU player, led the team to a 1-1 weekend by averaging 29.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. In the Bobcats' 112-90 victory over Shippensburg, he netted 22 points to go with a game-high 16 rebounds, while also dishing out 7 assists and 3 steals. He followed up by scoring a career-high 37 against Seton Hill while notching another double-double with 11 boards. He shot 63.3% from the field while also going 21-of-29 at the free throw line.
