Men's Tennis Tames Tigers in 5-2 Road Victory

The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team picked up a 5-2 road victory over Salem (WV) on Tuesday.

SALEM, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team picked up a 5-2 road victory over Salem (WV) on Tuesday.
 
Sophomores Cole Alcala and German Diaz opened up the match with a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles, followed by freshman Peter Barun and senior Del Carden following suit with the same score to secure the doubles point. Freshman Field Myatt and junior Matt Bolen finished off the sweep with a 7-5 victory as the third pairing.
 
Diaz (6-2, 7-5) and sophomore Noah Fisher (7-6, 6-3) each picked up a straight-set victory to put the Bobcats within a point of securing the match victory. The Tigers fought back, taking Nos. 4 and 5 for their first points of the meet. Alcala (5-7, 7-5, 10-6) and Bolen (4-6, 6-1, 10-4) ended up securing their matches in three sets at No. 1 and No. 5, respectively, to seal the 5-2 win for FSU.
 
With the win, Frostburg improves to 6-10 overall, while Salem falls to 2-13. The Bobcats return to the court on Saturday, April 27 as they will host Davis & Elkins on senior day at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
