Kush, Castejon, Pintar Go Unbeaten as WTEN Defeats Senators on the Road
ELKINS, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team earned a close 4-3 victory over Davis & Elkins on the road Saturday afternoon.
Junior Alyssa Kush and senior Lorena Pintar joined sophomores Ella Troxell and Patricia Castejon in picking up a pair of 6-3 doubles victories to secure the point for the meet.
Kush (6-3, 6-1) and Castejon (6-2, 6-1) each swept their singles matches at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, putting FSU a point away from securing the meet win. Pintar ensured that that it would not come down to either of the three-set matches ongoing, easing her way to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 to earn the 4-3 final score. Troxell (2-6, 6-0, 6-1) and senior Femke Hofkamp (6-2, 2-6, 7-6) each put up valiant efforts at Nos. 3 and 5, though D&E earned two of their three points from them plus a forfeit at the six spot.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 5-6 on the year, while Davis &Elkins falls to 4-5. FSU returns home on Thursday, April 10 to face Fairmont State at 3 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
