Mastria Wins Long Jump, Crowe, Johnson Show Pair of Top-10 Finishes as Women's Track & Field Succeeds in Hopkins/Loyola Invite
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Outdoor Track & Field team took their talents down state Friday and Saturday to compete in the Hopkins/Loyola Invite.
Sophomore Isabella Mastria had herself a meet, starting with a win in the long jump with a 5.61m jump, while fellow freshman Lucy Crowe was closely behind her in fifth place with a season-best jump of 5.18m. Mastria captured fourth in the 100m with a run of 12.37 for a new personal best, while junior Valerie Boards also took a top-10 spot clocking a 12.50 time for seventh place.
Frostburg placed three in the top-10 of the 5000m with sophomore Hannah Schauman (18:54.49), freshman Riley Teague (19:03.40), and senior Amy Tarcza (19:22.41) taking fourth, sixth, and tenth respectively with the latter running a personal best, while senior Chelsea Montau (21:53. 61), sophomore Clare Woodring (22:54.71), and sophomore Jazmine Pinon (23:24.54) found themselves in the 15th, 16th, and 17th spots.
Mastria showed a seventh place finish in the 100m hurdles with a finish of 15.69, while Crowe found herself in eighth in the 400m with a personal best time of 1:00.14. Frostburg's 4x100m relay team took third place with a 48.18 outing.
Moving into the field events, freshman Syndey Johnson carried the Bobcats with a fourth place finish in the hammer throw with a personal best showing of 41.79m for fifth best in program history, while also going for seventh place in the discus with a length of 33.08m. Freshman Eden Smallwood kept things going for FSU in the shot put with a season-best of 9.79m for 11th place, while fellow freshman Sarah Heasley went for ninth in the javelin throw with a 25.38m outing.
