Four Pinfalls Lead Women's Wrestling to Dominant Road Win Over Aggies
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Frostburg State Women's Wrestling team continued their strong start to the season with a 35-12 victory over Delaware Valley on Wednesday.
FSU got their first win on the board at 110 lbs, with freshman Faith Day earning a hard-fought 12-8 decision victory, though the Aggies took two of the first three bouts. Those would be the only two DVU wins, however, as the Bobcats rebounded to win the final seven classes, including four by pinfall.
Sophomore Jada Fowler kicked off the run at 124 lbs, needing just a minute and a half to secure her pin, then classmate Brianna Holcomb (10-0) and freshman Amber Hunter-Snyder (13-3) each picked up tech fall victories. After juniors Shani Tyson and Samira Stephens earned wins by pinfall, sophomore Jocelyn Cacek followed suit, needing just four seconds for hers, while Frostburg picked up a forfeit win at 180 lbs.
Rounding out the meet in an exhibition match, freshman Elle Webster took a 10-0 tech fall decision.
With the win, FSU improves to 5-1 on the year, while Delaware Valley falls to 1-1. The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, November 16 as they travel to York, Pa. for the YCP Duals. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
