Six Take All-MEC Honors for Men's Soccer

The Mountain East Conference announced the Men's Soccer All-Conference teams on Friday morning, with six players from Frostburg State earning the honor.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference announced the Men's Soccer All-Conference teams on Friday morning, with six players from Frostburg State earning the honor. 
 
Junior Carlos Quintero Rivas was the lone Bobcat to be named First Team All-MEC, for the first time in his career.  As FSU's main force of offense, Quintero Rivas led the team in goals with nine, tying for third-most in the conference.  Also dishing out two assists on the year, Quintero Rivas also leads the team in points with 20, tying for the fifth most in the MEC.  Quintero Rivas sits with two game winning goals, ripping a team-high 32 shots during the regular season.
 
Frostburg had three players named Second Team All-MEC, with seniors Caleb Dell and Mateo Cuadros, alongside freshman Jan Foret receiving the distinction.  Dell led the backend all throughout the season for FSU, playing a team-high 1,350 minutes and leading the Bobcats to the fourth least goals allowed in the league with 28.  Providing on all cylinders, Dell was credited with three goals and two assists on the other end of the field, seeing 16 total shots.  Cuadros represented the midfield for Frostburg, leading the team in assists with six, which is tied for second-most in the MEC.  Foret, earning the starting role at goalkeeper and being named to the All-MEC Freshman Team as well, put up 56 saves in 14 games for a .737 save percentage.  Foret holds a 1.45 goals against average, going for three shutouts and the third most saves per game in the conference.       
 
Senior Alex Retzos was named All-MEC Honorable Mention for his midfielder role, seeing the second most minutes on the team with 1,327 in 17 starts, and being credited with two goals and one assist.  Freshman Andrew Denard also earned a spot on the All-MEC Freshman Team, having fit right into his defensive stint for 17 starts, 1,318 minutes, three goals, and one assist in his first collegiate season.
