BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Senior Cat Smith received MEC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, as the award was announced by the league office on Monday and is presented by The Health Plan.
Smith helped guide Frostburg to a two-win week with a 4-0 shutout victory against Davis & Elkins, and a hard fought 2-1 road win over Concord. On Wednesday against D&E, Smith scored the final goal of the match, while ripping three shots in 66 minutes. Smith's effort on defense allowed just seven shots from the Senators, only three which were on goal. Over the weekend, Smith played a full 90 minutes against the Mountain Lions, giving up 10 shots to CU's offense, with again only three being on target.
