Morrison Wins Pole Vault in First Day of MEC Outdoor Championships
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team finished the first day of the MEC Championships in fourth place overall.
Sophomore Eva Morrison produced the top finish for FSU on the day, winning the pole vault at 3.45m. In the same event, senior Morgan Mathews placed sixth overall, tying her career best with a height of 2.75m.
In the long jump, sophomore Isabella Mastria earned herself a spot on the podium in third place, as her leap of 5.72m not only set a new personal mark, but is now also the second-best jump in program history.
Mathews found herself fourth in the first day of the heptathlon, with her best finish coming in the shot put at second place with a toss of 9.76m. She also scored personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles (16.99), high jump (1.44m), and the 200 meters (27.52). Also in the heptathlon, senior Erin Haviland scored personal high marks in the shot put (9.55m) and the 200 meters (28.53).
Rounding out the day of results, junior Hannah Muir placed fifth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 41:34.28, while sophomore Adra Schell set a personal best at 43:29.26.
