Boards, Mastria, Scott Score Top-10 Places for Women's Track & Field at Spire Institute

The Frostburg State Women's Indoor Track & Field Team competed on the road Saturday at the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games.

GENEVA, Ohio. – The Frostburg State Women's Indoor Track & Field Team competed on the road Saturday at the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games.

Frostburg finished the meet with multiple top-20 finishes on the day, as sophomore Valerie Boards had herself a day, securing a sixth place finish in the 60 meter dash with a 7.78 time, and a ninth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a 25.92 time. The Bobcats had two eighth place finishes in freshman Isbella Mastria and sophomore Jasmine Scott, as the former set a personal record in the long jump with a length of 5.47m for the second best distance in FSU history, and the latter going on to place eighth in the 400 meter dash with a 58.15 finish.

Mastria went on to earn an 11th place finish in the 200 meter dash with a 25.96 finish, setting another personal record for the sixth best time in Frostburg history. FSU also received two 19th place finishes on the day in sophomore Eva Morrison putting up a 3.15m in the pole vault and freshman Hannah Schauman running a 19:49.77 in the 5000 meters for a personal record as well.

FSU had several other athletes set personal records in multiple other events. Freshmen Emily Wishart (5:33.36) and Paige Etnoyer (5:37.18) each set personal records in the mile, with the former also setting a career mark in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:31.94. Freshman Lucy Crowe ran a 28.40 for a personal best in the 200 meter dash, while freshmen Lilly Williams (1:02.23) and Cierra Cooper (1:04.95) set new records in the 400 meter dash. Senior Erin Haviland set two PRs in the 60m hurdles and long jump with a run of 10.05 and a jump of 4.45m. In the field events, freshman Raegan Philips threw a 10.69m in the weight throw for a personal best as well.

The Bobcats will next travel to Huntington, WV to compete in the MEC Indoor Championships on Friday, February 16 and Saturday, February 17. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
