Several Top-10 Marks Set for Women's Track & Field in Bob Lewis Classic
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team hosted the program's second annual Bob Lewis Classic, welcoming a handful of teams to Bobcat Stadium on Friday for the lone day of competition.
Frostburg captured multiple top-10 finishes throughout the day, placing six out of the top 10 in the 100 meters. Freshman Isabella Mastria (12.39), sophomore Valerie Boards (12.53), and sophomore Malaika Habib (12.54) took second, third, and fourth, respectively, with the former sitting at 10th all-time in program history, while the latter set a new personal best. Sophomore Jasmine Scott (12.68) finished sixth with a new personal record, freshman Lilly Williams (13.13) placed eighth, and freshman Cierra Cooper (13.48) brought it home in 10th with a personal record as well. A handful of athletes continued their success in the 200 meters, with Mastria (25.82) coming in second once again and Scott (26.30) taking home third. Habib (27.00) placed fifth, with Williams (27.69) right behind her in sixth, as Cooper (28.75) clocked an eighth place finish, and freshman Lucy Crowe (28.99) finished ninth with a new season best.
In the distance events, the Bobcats put up a handful of top-three finishes, as junior Elizabeth Stanley ran a new personal record of 11:56.03 in the 3000 meters for second place. Freshman Hannah Schauman ran the best in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a 12:13.85 time for third best in school history, as freshmen Paige Etnoyer and Emily Wishart came in second and third, respectively, with times of 12:24.50 and 12:59.74 for fifth and seventh all-time. Senior Hannah Muir won the 10k with a 40:54.12 time for the eighth best finish in FSU history, as sophomore Adra Schell and senior Amy Tarcza captured second and third with 43:35.84 and 44:56.23 runs. To round out the track events, the team of Mastria, Habib, Williams, and Boards placed first in the 4x100 with a season best of 48.12 for fifth best all-time, as the 4x400 team of Scott, Mastria, Boards, and Williams ran a 4:12.50 for a first place finish as well.
Sophomore Addy Cottrill finished second in both the discus and shot put, going for a season best of 38.65m in the former, while throwing another season best in the latter with a 10.96m. Cottrill placed fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 38.58m, while senior Jenna Green captured eighth with a 29.55m distance. Green went on to place third in the javelin with a new personal record of 29.18m for ninth best in Frostburg history, while senior Erin Haviland recorded a season best of 24.27m. Freshman Raegan Phillips set a new personal record in the discus with a 23.17m throw.
Mastria went for first in the long jump with a personal best of 5.53 for fourth all-time in Bobcat history, while Scott came in third with a 4.88m jump, and Crowe took fourth with a 4.71m finish.
Sophomore Eva Morrison won the pole vault with a height of 3.35m, while graduate Morgan Mathews set a personal record of 2.75m to come in third, setting the fifth-best mark in program history. Sophomore Khady Ndiaye tied for third place in the high jump with a 1.40m jump, then went on to capture first place in the triple jump with a personal best of 11.33m, setting the fourth-best mark all-time, while Morrison came in fourth with a 9.94m jump.
