- Nov 14:00 PMIntersectionality: Sexual Assault and IdentityRAINN Bureau Speaker Leah Forney will be speaking about her experience helping those in marginalized communities who have faced sexual violence on Friday, Nov. 1 from 4-6 p.m. in Lane University Center 113. As a survivor of sexual assault, Leah has turned her trauma into a powerful narrative that drives her mission. Her story is not just one of survival, but of thriving and leading by example. For the past decade, she has bravely shared her experience, leading crucial conversations with politicians, law enforcement, and attorney generals' offices. Her advocacy work has made her a respected voice in the fight against sexual violence. Ms. Forney is the host of Hey Queen Thrive! podcast, the founder of SAAVE ME, an experienced speaker, is on the advisory board of George Mason University, is earning a PHD from John Hopkins, & has an upcoming feature in USA Today. SafeRide, a student-operated program, is free to all students. It provides various employment opportunities to the students of FSU as well as offers FSU-recognized organizations the opportunity to earn volunteer hours. He has a self-published book of sonnets, Earthworm Sonnets, and often shares writings and drawings on his instagram under the username “colefiscus”. He enjoys all forms of creative activity and includes reading, watching movies, running, and drinking hot cocoa as contributory instigators of a better creative headspace.This event is sponsored by the Allegany Arts Council, the City of Frostburg, and several offices at FSU, including the Office of the President, the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social & Behavioral Sciences, and the Department of English and Foreign Languages and Literature.The Center for Literary Arts is attached to the Lewis J. Ort Library on FSU's campus. Walk down the steps between the Lane Center and the main body of the library, pass through the double doors, and there we are. Parking lots are open to all in the evening or on Saturday mornings, no permit required.Participants with mobility impairments may park behind the Lane Center with a hang tag/placard/note on your dashboard and approach the CLA from the side ramp. (This a fully-accessible path to the CLA and is a shorter distance to our front doors from other nearby handicapped-accessible parking spots.)

The Lane University Center's Manicur Assembly Hall will be transformed into a carnival complete with games and a haunted blackout maze in the back, be prepared to be scared! Lane University Center's Atkinson Room will be filled with Halloween crafts, more carnival games, and face painting. There will be corn dogs, pretzels, and more!
