Men's Wrestling Takes Final Dual of Season with Conference Victory Over D&E
ELKINS, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Wrestling team took their final dual of the year with a 35-21 conference win over Davis & Elkins on Sunday.
Frostburg was given six points right off the bat in 125 lbs, with freshman Nate Wilhelm getting the win by forfeit. Davis & Elkins picked up the first two contested victories of the day, seeing wins in 133 and 141, with redshirt freshman Owen Lehman and sophomore Sirr Bannister getting the nods for FSU on the mat.
Graduate Alex Blake reported a 19-3 tech fall win in the 149 lb class, bringing the overall score to 12-11 in favor of the Senators. Redshirt junior Nico D'Amico and sophomore Mason Buckler received wins by forfeit in their respective weight classes, moving the Bobcats in front 23-12.
Both teams went back and forth in the final four matches, with D&E taking 174 over Charles Turney, before freshman Andrew Wolfanger pinned his opponent in 184 in a matter of 1:12. The Senators came out on top in 197, with senior Nick McCarty competing, while sophomore Gavin Bage racked up a pinfall in 2:11 as a part of the 285 lb weight class, seeing the final score at 35-21 in favor of Frostburg.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 10-4 to finish out their dual season. The Bobcats will still hold their Senior Night on Friday, February 21 at 7 PM. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
