FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State Athletics will be taking a preview of each team competing in the spring season, covering nine total sports.  Over the next couple weeks, each team will be broken down into their matchups, key players, and overall outlook for their season and program.  To start the second week is Women's Tennis.

Overall
Frostburg State Women's Tennis gears up for their first season under Head Coach Desire Johnson, who was a part of the FSU roster during the 2021-2022 season, before volunteering as a coach for the 2022-2023 season.  Del Carden, who just concluded his career in a Bobcat uniform, is set to be the assistant coach.  Frostburg competed in the fall season, playing in the ITA Tournament, as well as the Cardinal Invitational.  FSU racked up their first win of the season in the fall, facing Shepherd in September for a 6-1 victory.

Last Season
The Bobcats are coming off a historic season in 2024, finishing with a 12-10 record for the program's first winning season in over a decade. Frostburg put up a 3-2 mark in conference play, knotting their first-ever birth in the MEC Tournament as the No. 3 seed.  Alyssa Kush was named First Team All-MEC to round out the season, while Lorena Pintar, Julia Ramos, and Patricia Castejon all took All-MEC Honorable Mention.

The Returners
Johnson sits with an active five-man roster, with Sydney Goering and Mariaspa Kotsiou graduating and finishing out their time in Frostburg in the fall.  Femke Hofkamp returns to the court in the spring for her senior season, while Pintar comes back a senior as well.  Kush returns as a junior, while Castejon and Ella Troxell will represent the sophomore class.  Ramos is set to redshirt this spring.

Kick off to Season
FSU opens their spring ball at Edinboro on Sunday, February 16, remaining on the road for their next six games.  The Bobcats welcome in Charleston (WV) on Wednesday, March 26 at 1 PM for both their home and MEC opener.
