FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State Athletics will be taking a preview of each team competing in the spring season, covering nine total sports.  Over the next couple weeks, each team will be broken down into their matchups, key players, and overall outlook for their season and program.  To round out the second week is Acrobatics & Tumbling.

Overall
Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling plans to begin their fifth-ever season, starting out 2025 as the No. 9 ranked team in the country by the NCATA.  Head Coach Katie Amedure remains at the lead of the program, continuing to expand and build the program from the start, as she welcomes back both Edonnya Alvarez and Sophia Del Greco to assist her in the process.

Last Season
Frostburg enters 2025 as now two-time defending MEC Champions, taking the crown once again in the 2024 season.  A year ago, FSU finished with a 7-3 record overall, going for a 4-1 mark in conference competition with just a .025 loss to Fairmont State, allowing the Bobcats to plot revenge in the MEC championship.  Amedure led Frostburg to their second consecutive NCATA National Championship appearance, as the team was slotted as the No. 7 seed once again, where they faced No. 2 Quinnipiac in the quarterfinals.  To round out another historic season in 2024, Navah Marierose was named MEC Specialist of the Year, while Abbie Baker and Laiken Spahr were named First Team All-MEC, and Syndey Green captured Second Team All-MEC honors.  Baker concluded her career with another NCATA All-American selection for the second consecutive season.

The Returners
Nine significant athletes finished out their time on the mat in an FSU uniform last season, as Baker, Spahr, Marierose, Green, Kaitlin Bolton, Alexis Palmieri, Shelby Recktenwald, Virginia Krasznay, and Jordanne Hensley made a name for themselves, and the program, during their careers.  Amedure looks to continue the success of the program, welcoming back a total of 17 athletes from last year.  The senior class of Nia Ivanov, Meghan Dunster, Kaitlyn Enea, and Mackenzie Coyne return to the mat, along side key members juniors Isabella Mongelluzzo, Eleanor Ohngren, and Marion Pastore, and sophomores Joanna and Julia Welch, who look to make more of an impact in their second season.

The Newcomers
Amedure welcomes in a significant freshman class, adding 10 new talents to the mix.  Fathiha Sheriff and Delayni Clark join the team as bases, while Ryan Fisk, Emily Brooks, Kamryn O'Neal, Alyson Hunt, and Grace Whaley plan to be used as base/tumblers.  Alina Bass and Bailey Miniefield come in as top/tumblers, while Madison Oliver will serve primarily as a top.

Kick Off to Season
The Bobcats open their season at home on Sunday, February 16 with a tri-meet of Kutztown and West Virginia State at 2 PM.  FSU then goes on the road for another tri-meet on Sunday, February 23 at 1 PM, facing Glenville State and Wheeling.  Frostburg then plans to see four nationally ranked opponents throughout the season, with No. 10 Limestone, No. 14 Long Island, No. 3 Gannon, and No. 6 Fairmont.
