Men's Tennis Takes Doubles, Diaz Picks Up Lone Singles Win in Road Loss to WVWC
BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team fell in their road match to West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday afternoon by a final score of 5-2.
Frostburg started with a win in No. 1 doubles, with the junior pairing of Cole Alcala and German Diaz taking down their opponents 6-3. Senior Matt Bolen and sophomore Viktor Boban rolled to a tight 7-6 victory in No 2 doubles, while juniors Noah Fisher and Jason Haley were defeated in the No. 3 slot.
Diaz was the lone Bobcat to earn a win in singles competition, taking No. 2 singles 7-6, 6-3. Alcala fought to three sets in the No. 1 hole, falling short 3-6, 6-2, 6-7, while Bolen showed a 5-7, 1-6 fight in the No. 4 spot. Fisher fell in the fifth singles match 1-6, 2-6, while Boban and Haley were shutout in the three and six spots.
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 4-10 on the season, while West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 10-4. The Bobcats return home for their final two matches of the regular season, welcoming in West Chester on Wednesday, April 16 for a 2 PM contest.
