Men's Swimming Faces IUP on Senior Day
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Swimming team put up a fight against IUP on Senior Day, dropping their home meet just by a final score of 110.5-94.5.
After the meet, Frostburg recognized their terrific senior class for rounding out their Bobcat careers, celebrating Nate Canapp, Tave Chanthavong, Mikkel LeBlanc, Sean O'Connor, Jaden Tipton, and Alex Whitton.
Frostburg captured two victories on the day, with the 200-meter free relay team of junior Josh Horner, sophomores Abe Bias and Tory Reynolds, and Tipton swimming a 1:39.51 for a first place finish. Sophomore Josh Stokes took first in the 50-meter back, with a swim of 27.53.
The team of Stokes, graduate PJ Emrich, sophomore Dylan King, and Horner placed second in the 200-meter medley relay with a time of 1:49.57, while King went on to take second in the 100-meter IM with a 1:01.12 finish. Canapp saw a second place time of 9:02.65 in the 800-meter free, while Chanthavong earned second in the 50-meter back with a 30.48 swim.
Sophomore Jack Bond had two second place finishes on the day for FSU, swimming a 2:04.62 in the 200-meter free, with freshman Bradin Norris coming in right behind him with a 2:04.66 time. Bond also went on to take second in the 400-meter free for the Bobcat's top-time in the event with a 4:21.73 finish. Bias placed second in the 50-meter free with a 24.91 time, prior to taking second in the 100-meter free with a 55.78 time. Reynolds came in third behind Bias in the 50-meter free with a 24.98 finish, while also taking third in the 100-meter free with a 55.78 finish.
With the loss, Frostburg moves to 4-3 on the season to start the new year, while IUP goes to 2-2. The Bobcats are back in action on Friday, January 10 in California, PA for the Vulcan Dual Meet Challenge. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
