Women's Swimming Sees Crimson Hawks on Senior Day

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team dropped their meet to IUP on Senior Day by a final score of 120-83.
 
After the meet, Frostburg celebrated their outstanding senior class in Amaya Burke, Alexis Council, Kendall Hooper, Meaghan Keegan, Lydia Nebiolo, Natasha Paciello, and Amanda Soustek for finishing out their Bobcat careers.
 
Freshmen Genevieve Rippeon and Madison Hooper picked up the lone wins of the day for Frostburg in the individual events, with the former taking first in the 800-meter free with a 9:28.41 swim, and the latter seeing first in the 50-meter free with a 27.59 swim.  The 200-meter free relay team of M. Hooper, K. Hooper, sophomore Jayme Meadows, and Burke saw the final first place finish of the day for FSU with a 1:53.64 swim. 
 
Rippeon went on to earn second in the 100-meter IM with a time of 1:10.52, while Paciello, K. Hooper, M. Hooper, and junior Gabriela Betancourt took second in the 200-meter medley relay with a 2:08.67 time.  Freshman Taylor Emrich finished second in the 200-meter free (2:15.44), while Nebiolo was right behind her in third (2:18.43), as Betancourt saw second in the 50-meter back (33.22) and Meadows (33.38) placed behind her in third.  Paciello swam a 31.61 in the 50-meter fly, earning herself a third place finish as well. 
 
With the loss, Frostburg goes to 5-2 on the season to start the new year, while IUP moves to 2-2.  The Bobcats next travel to compete in the Vulcan Dual Meet Challenge on Friday, January 10 in California, PA.  For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
