Acrobatics & Tumbling Shows New Season-High in Loss to #5 Fairmont

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team was tasked with No. 5 Fairmont State on Sunday, securing their highest finish of the season so far in the 264.130-246.380 loss. 
 
Fairmont held the slight edge in the opening event, coming out of the compulsory with a 36.550-35.550 edge, as Frostburg's bests came in the pyramid and toss heat with scores of 9.35 and 9.55.  The Bobcats showed a dominant effort in the acro event with totals of 8.9, 8.8, and 9.1, as Fairmont scored over a 9.1 in each heat to take the event 28.400-26.800.
 
Frostburg was able to come out on top in the inversion heat of the pyramid event, scoring a 9.6 compared to Fairmont's 9.55.  The Bobcats then showed an 8.05 and 9.7 to round out all three events in the first half, being down just 93.900-89.700 at the break. 
 
The Falcons swept the toss heat 28.100-26.270 to start the second half, with Frostburg working for solid scores of 8.95 and 8.65 out of 9.4 in the 450 salto and synchronized heats, followed by a  9.150/9.5 in the open heat.  Heading into the tumbling event, Fairmont rounded out the meet with a 53.250-46.700 victory, taking all heats.  Frostburg's top finishes came in the final two heats, posting a 8.275/8.6 and 9.175/9/750 in the 6-element and open pass. 
 
The Bobcats showed a 83.230 in the team event compared to the Falcons' 88.880, bringing the final score to 264.130-246.380 in favor of Fairmont.
 
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 3-5 on the season, while Fairmont moves to 7-1.  The Bobcats will round out the regular season with their home finale next, hosting West Liberty on Saturday, April 5 at 2 PM for Senior Day.  For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
