Smith, Gillette Take D2CCA All-Region Honors

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) announced their Women's Soccer All-Atlantic Region Teams on Tuesday afternoon, with Frostburg State senior Cat Smith earning a spot on the All-Region First Team, and junior Carly Gillette receiving a spot on the All-Region Second Team. 
 
Smith, rounding out an amazing Frostburg career, capped off her senior season with All-MEC First Team honors, as well as a very deserving MEC Defensive Player of the Year recognition.  As the Bobcats leader on defense, Smith played a team-high 1,708 minutes, giving up just 12 goals on the season in 21 games, while also helping provide 12 defensive shutouts.  Smith led FSU to their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance, filling out the stat sheet with five goals and two assists on the offensive end, while seeing a team-high 42 shots.  Smith earned 12 points on the season, tallying three game-winning goals on the year as well. 
 
Gillette, guiding Frostburg's midfield throughout the season, is coming of First Team All-MEC honors as well, having started in all 21 games.  Gillette played well all around the ball, sitting in second on the team in goals with seven, while also dishing out an assist on the year for a total of 15 points.  Gillette captured two game-winning goals on the season, taking 35 shots in 1,176 minutes played on the year.
