Women's Swimming Tested with Franklin and Marshall Weekend Invite
LANCASTER, Pa. – The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team participated in the Franklin and Marshall Invite throughout the weekend, where the team tied for ninth place with a total of 466 points.
Freshman Genevieve Rippeon continued her dominant freshman season, knotting a second place finish in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:04.13 for a spot in the A Final, while smashing the program's all-time record. Senior Kendall Hooper had a solid swim in the 200-yard IM with a 2:11.44 time for a 10th place overall finish and the second best time in the B Final, while freshman Taylor Emrich squeezed her way into the C Final with a 2:14.48 time.
Freshman Madison Hooper qualified for the C final in the 50-yard free with a 24.75 swim, while the 400-yard medley relay team of sophomore Jayme Meadows, senior Natasha Paciello, K. Hooper, and Rippeon took 10th with a combined swim of 3:59.47. The team of sophomores Reagan Chase and Brenna Naddeo, senior Amya Burke, and M. Hooper swam a 1:40.71 in the 200-yard free relay for a 15th place finish on the day.
Rippeon continued her success on day two, swimming the third-best 400-yard IM with a 4:31.52 for an A Final spot and another school record. K. Hooper took another C Final spot on the day for FSU, showing a 58.57 in the 100-yard fly. Paciello finished with an 1:06.36 in the 100-yard breast for the second best time in the B Final, while senior Lydia Nebiolo also took a B Final spot with a 1:00.85 swim in the 100-back.
Burke, Meadows, freshman Ashley Ellsworth, and Rippeon worked together for a sixth place finish in the 800-yard free relay worth a 7:54.85 time that just beat the program record, while the 200-medely relay team of Nebiolo, Paciello, K. Hooper, and M. Hooper pulled a 1:49.60 time for a 10th place finish.
To finish out the weekend, Emrich started with a 13th place finish in the 200-yard breast for the fifth best in the B final with a swim of 2:11.17, while Meadows was behind her in the C Final with a swim of 2:11.34. Paciello next took 10th overall in the 200-yard breast with a 2:26.61 time for the second best B Final time, while senior Meaghan Keegan swam the second best C Final time with a 2:28.72 finish.
K. Hooper slotted the fifth best overall time in the 200-yard fly with a 2:10.99 swim, while sophomores Alexis Ramsey (2:14.99) and Morgan Greenlee (2:15.20) took C Final spots. Rippeon ended her weekend in the individual events with a first place finish in the 1,650 free for another school record with a time of 17:33.54, while Nebiolo put up a 12th place swim with an 18:06.95 time. Finishing out the weekend was the 400-free relay team of M. Hooper, Burke, Nebiolo, and Rippeon who swam a 3:34.13 for an eighth place finish.
