Holcomb, Hunter-Snyder, Cacek Lead Women's Wrestling to Tri-Meet Sweep
YORK, Pa. - Thee Frostburg State women's wrestling team picked up two wins at the York Tri-Match, defeating Alfred State 48-1 and the Spartans 37-11.
The Bobcats started off the first dual against the Pioneers with three forfeits and then sophomore Jada Fowler earned a fall in the first contested match at 124 lbs. FSU then rolled off four wins in a row, with sophomore Brianna Holcomb and freshman Amber Hunter-Snyder earning pinfall victories and senior Shani Tyson (10-0) and junior Samira Stephens (12-1) picking up tech falls. The match was capped off with a fall at 207 lbs from sophomore Jocelyn Cacek, as the Bobcats won by a score of 48-1.
The second dual of the day came against YCP, where freshman Faith Day kept things going for FSU, earning a fall at 1:39. York took the next two weight classes to gain the lead, but Holcomb continued her good start to the season by getting her second pin of the day. Hunter-Snyder kept momentum with her second win of the day in a 10-4 decision, while sophomore Maria Hiles and Cacek rounding things out with a pair of pinfalls for the 37-11 final.
Frostburg is now 7-1 on the year in duals, as their next meet will be held in Bobcat Arena when they host Ursinus on Sunday, November 24 at 2 p.m. For more information visit frostburgsports.com.
