Men's Wrestling Earns Home Shutout Victory Over Garrett

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Wrestling team earned a commanding 50-0 victory over Garrett College at home on Wednesday night.
 
The meet began with a pair of exhibition matches at 141 and 174 lbs, where in the former, freshman Stephen Stottlemyer picked up a tech fall in dominant fashion 18-1 and in the latter, sophomore Charlie Turney earned a late first round pinfall.
 
Among the scoring bouts, freshman Nate Wilhelm starting things off at 125 with a great defensive effort, earning a decision win in a low-scoring 5-0 match. Next up at 133, freshman Amir Wray-Hill came out on top of a back-and-forth battle, winning 15-9 for another decision victory.
 
At 141 lbs, redshirt junior Dylan Montgomery was in control from start to finish, earning a 21-3 tech fall win, securing the final four points necessary with a near fall in the third round. With FSU ahead 11-0, graduate Alex Blake kept the momentum going, following suit with an 18-2 tech fall before sophomore Mason Buckler picked up a first round pin to go up 22-0.
 
Redshirt sophomore Noah Reho had no intention of letting up, picking up another pinfall victory in two minutes. Frostburg's high scoring kept up with graduate Owen Butler getting a 22-6 tech fall in the 174 class, while sophomore Duncan Kammar then had a pinfall victory at 184 lbs. Closing out the meet, freshman Cole Yonkin took FSU's final pin at 197 lbs, then sophomore Gavin Bage picked up a 20-4 tech to close things out with the 50-0 final.
 
With the win, Frostburg improves to 3-1 on the year, while the Lakers fall to 1-1. The Bobcats return home on Wednesday, December 4 to host Marymount at 7 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostbugsports.com.
