Troxell Goes Undefeated as Women's Tennis Falls Just Short to Hilltoppers

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team came up just shy against West Liberty at home on Tuesday afternoon, falling in the contest 4-3.

The team of senior Lorena Pintar and junior Alyssa Kush fell in their close doubles contest 6-4 to begin the day, as the sophomore duo of Ella Troxell and Patricia Castejon took the lone win in doubles play for Frostburg with an impressive 6-1 finish.  Seniors Femke Hofkamp and Ava Waddell played in the No. 3 spot, dropping the match with a tight 6-4 score as well.
 
Troxell dominated in her singles match with a 6-0, 6-0 showing at No. 3, while Pintar (6-0, 6-1) and Hofkamp (6-1, 6-0) picked up victories in the four and five spots.  Kush fell in the No. 1 hole 0-6, 4-6, while Castejon (1-6, 4-6) and Waddell (4-6, 0-6) dropped the two and six contests. 
 
With the loss, Frostburg drops to 4-6 on the season, while West Liberty goes to 5-4.  The Bobcats go on the road next, facing West Virginia Wesleyan at 3 PM on Friday, April 4.  For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
