FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State University fitness/strength and conditioning coordinator Glenn Cain has recently accepted a similar position at the University of Kansas and will serve as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the men’s and women’ basketball teams, along with women’s rowing and women’s golf.

Cain returns to the KU athletic department where he served as an intern with both the men’s and women’s basketball teams in the summer of 2008. He will start his second stint at Kansas in early July.

“It has been a great experience getting to know the members of Frostburg State University over these past 2 years. Although I am excited to return to the Univ. of Kansas, the decision to leave such a great place was extremely difficult,” said Cain. “I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to begin a strength & conditioning program and to run a fitness center that everyone in the community can be proud to be associated with.”

At FSU, Cain is credited with starting and implementing the strength and conditioning program over his two years at the helm. He oversees the workout programs for all 21 Bobcat athletic teams and a staff of five graduate assistants. Cain purchased brand new equipment for FSU, created an internship program in the fitness center for undergraduate students and has provided personal training to faculty, staff and members of the local community.

Cain is a graduate of Gettysburg College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences in 2007. He earned a master’s degree in exercise science and sports studies with a concentration in strength and conditioning from Springfield College in 2009.

In addition to his work with Kansas in 2008, Cain has worked as an intern with both the University of Connecticut and Rutgers University. He worked with the football programs at both institutions along with women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s ice hockey and track & field.

Prior to Frostburg, Cain served as a graduate assistant in the strength and conditioning program at Springfield College from 2007-09. He worked mainly with the football, men’s and women’s basketball programs and the wrestling teams. He wrote, implemented and supervised workouts and helped to maintain the school’s weight room.

Cain, a four-year member of both the football and track & field teams at Gettysburg College, was inducted into the Ewing High School (N.J.) Athletic Hall of Fame in May of 2010.
