Men's Basketball Reveals 2023-24 Season Schedule

The Frostburg State Men's Basketball team has announced their regular season schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State Men's Basketball team has announced their regular season schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Under new Head Coach Zach Thomsen, FSU looks to challenge with a schedule loaded with Atlantic Region powerhouse programs. In total, FSU will face off against five of the eight teams that qualified for the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The out-of-conference schedule features two tip-off style tournaments, first beginning in Clarion. The Bobcats will open the season on November 10 against the Mercyhurst Lakers, the region's three seed a year ago and coming off a 25-6 season in the first-ever meeting between the sides. The Bobcats will then play Clarion the following day in the second matchup all-time, with the Golden Eagles winning the previous game 82-76 in 2021.

Following the home opener against regional foe Shepherd in the 61st meeting between the programs, the Bobcats will head to perhaps the most intimidating venue in the region, Indiana University of Pennsylvania for the IUP Thanksgiving Classic. FSU's first game comes against the Crimson Hawks on November 25, the number one seed of the Atlantic region last season after a 32-2 campaign and spending numerous weeks at number one in the DII National Poll. The following day, FSU opposes Pitt-Johnstown, the seven seed last season and coming off a 20-11 regular season. Both matchups mark first time meetings of the programs. Out-of-conference play concludes on December 30 at home against in-state foe Bowie State, after last season's renewal of the matchup saw BSU win 94-79 on their home floor.

Conference play begins for the Bobcats on November 18 at Davis & Elkins, with the home conference opener on November 29 against Charleston (WV). Two rivals who qualified for the national tournament last season include Fairmont State, last season's five seed in the region, coming off a 24-8 campaign and a season sweep a year ago over the Bobcats. The Fighting Falcons come to town on January 27, then the Bobcats return the favor at Joe Retton Arena on March 2 in the regular season finale. West Liberty, coming off an Atlantic region two seed and an appearance in the National Championship game after a 33-4 campaign, visits Bobcat Arena on February 14, after the Bobcats visit the ASRC on January 10 to kick off the new year and start the season series.

The full conference slate of home games features Glenville State on December 9, January 13 vs Wheeling, January 17 against Notre Dame College, January 24 vs West Virignia Wesleyan, February 3 vs Concord, February 7 vs West Virginia State, February 24 vs Alderson Broaddus and February 28 vs Davis & Elkins. Wednesday games will begin at 7:30 and Saturday games at 4 or unless a change is noted. As in previous years, Frostburg will play each Mountain East team twice in a home-and-away series throughout the season.
