Miller Named to NFCA Division II Player of the Year Watchlist
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their Division II Player of the Year watchlist on Thursday afternoon, with Frostburg State Softball junior Arden Miller being one of 15 athletes selected from the NCAA Atlantic Region.
So far this season, Miller leads the team in hits (28), total bases (64), home runs (9), runs (22), and RBI (25), sitting with a .378 batting average across 24 games. Miller was named MEC Player of the Week, along with Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week earlier this season, when she collected eight hits, seven runs, 11 RBI, and four home runs in four games, including a 7-for-7 performance from the plate in the team's series with Bowie State, where she scored four runs, knocked in 10 RBI, and sent out three bombs, one being a grand slam.
The watchlist is broken down into the eight NCAA Regions (Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West) with up to 15 student-athletes represented in each region. The list is compiled by the elected members of the NFCA Division II All-American Committee with one head coach representing each of the eight NCAA regions. To be eligible, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member.
