GLENVILLE, W. Va. – The Frostburg State men's wrestling team started its 2025 campaign at the Pioneer Open on Saturday, placing fifth overall at 113.5 points.

The Bobcats would take 37 wrestlers to Glenville to kick off the season, where 13 of them would place in the top eight among their brackets.

Freshman Tanner Halling was the standout performer on the day for FSU, winning the 133 lbs weight class. He had two tech falls, two decision victories, and took the first-place match by a major decision 14-3. His toughest test came in the semifinal bout, where he faced nationally 11th-ranked Nick Cottone from Millersville, sneaking out a 2-1 victory. 

Freshman Calvin Kraisser, graduate Alex Blake and sophomore Austin Lewis took third in their brackets at 157, 165 and 197 respectively, as the trio combined for 10 wins on the day. The full list of FSU's scoring wrestlers is listed below.
