Five Earn Acrobatics & Tumbling All-MEC Honors
BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – The Mountain East Conference announced its year-end award winners and all-conference teams for the 2025 Acrobatics & Tumbling season on Thursday.
Frostburg State saw five athletes receive honors, with Nia Ivanov, Meghan Dunster, and Isabella Mongelluzzo securing First Team All-MEC, while Callie Miller and Julia Welch were each named to the Second Team.
Mongelluzzo now has two First Team selections in her career, also earning the feat in 2023, where she was the MEC Freshman of the Year. The Bobcat junior was most recently named the MEC Specialist of the Week and is one of the team's top bases, performing in the Acro, Pyramid, and Toss events, as well as all four heats within the Compulsory.
Stepping into some new roles this season, Ivanov has competed in all phases on the mat as a top, tumbler, and base throughout the year. She also competes in all four Compulsory heats, while also specializing in the 6-Element Acro, Open Pyramid, 450 Salto and Synchronized Toss, and Duo and Open Passes in Tumbling. In the Open pass she has averaged a 9.139 score out of a possible 9.75 throughout the season, never scoring below an 8.70.
Also seeing an increased role this season, Dunster has featured regularly in the 5- and 7- Element Acro, Inversion and Synchronized Pyramids, and three facets of the Compulsory event. Since the second meet of the season, her Inversion Pyramid has not scored below a 9.10, reaching as high as 9.60 in back-to-back meets.
Featuring as another of Frostburg's strong bases, Miller has competed in the Acro, Pyramid, and Toss events, while also featuring in three Compulsory heats. Her standout heat has been the Open Pyramid, which averages a score of 9.643, never falling below a 9.40 and reaching as high as 9.85 on the year.
Welch features in the Synchronized Acro and Pyramid heats while also being a top in the Synchronized and Open Tosses as well as a tumbler in the Trio Pass. Her top performances have come in the Open toss, averaging an 8.829 out of 9.50 with a season-high of 9.15.
