Men's Swimming Uses Dominant Day Two of Championships to Keep Lead of the MEC
CANTON, Ohio – The Frostburg State Men's Swimming team remains at the top of the conference, as well as third place overall, after Day Two of the GMAC/MEC Championships held on Thursday.
Senior Nate Canapp placed fourth in the 400-yard IM, seeing the best time of a MEC swimmer, clocking a 4:07.23. Freshman Bradin Norris finished right behind in sixth with a swim of 4:13.22, moving into third all-time in program history, while graduate PJ Emrich (4:16.55) took 11th overall for a spot in the B Final, and sophomore Jack Bond (4:32.15) took the first slot in the C Final.
Sophomore Dylan King swam a 49.91 in the 100-yard butterfly for the top MEC time, the fourth best overall, and second best in school history, while sophomore Tory Reynolds (52.17) and sophomore Josh Stokes (52.30) rounded out the event for Frostburg in the C Final, both cracking top-10 times in program history. Sophomore Abe Bias saw a fifth place finish in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:43.32 for now the second best all-time, while senior Jaden Tipton (1:44.44) took 11th overall, and junior Josh Horner (1:47.75) showed the best time in the C Final, with the former setting a new personal best of his own.
To finish out the day, the 400-yard medley relay team of Stokes, King, Bias, and senior Tave Chanthavong combined for a 3:29.58 finish for fourth place, setting a new all-time record as well.
