Alex Frye, euphonium - Senior Recital

- DescriptionFrostburg State University’s Department of Music will present student Alex Frye in his senior euphonium recital, “Reverie and Rumination”, on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. He will be accompanied by guest artists Brice Simpson on horn and Patrick Godfrey on trumpet. The concert is free and open to the public. This event will also be livestreamed; the link will be posted at www.frostburg.edu/concerts.
Frye’s program will include “New England Reveries” by Neal Corwell; “Blue Lake Fantasies” by David R. Gillingham; Sonata for Horn, Trumpet and Trombone by Francis Poulenc, and “FLOW” by Ben Taylor.
At FSU, Frye studies under Abby Lannan and has been on the Dean’s List. He has received the Alison M. Combes and Craig W. Bowman Presidential Merit Scholarship, a band assistant scholarship, the Department of Music Instrumental Scholarship and the Marguerite Witmer Richards Scholarship. Frye anticipates graduating in May 2025 with a bachelor’s in music performance. He plans to attend graduate school for euphonium performance and work in music as a freelance musician. Frye attended Fort Hill High School, and he is the son of Misty and Charles Frye of Cumberland.
