Frostburg State University’s ASTAR AmeriCorps program will hold a Book and Resource Giveaway Community Outreach Project from Saturday, April 12th through Wednesday, April 16th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at City Place, 14 S. Water St. in Frostburg.The public is invited to choose from a wide variety of items at no cost. This year’s event will feature food, books, and other items. Supply is limited, so those interested are encouraged to arrive early.This event is supported by FSU and ASTAR, which are AmeriCorps grantees that receive funds as part of their national and state program, as well as the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism. Frostburg State University’s Department of Music will host the Honor’s Recital on Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. The Honor’s Recital features outstanding student and faculty artists from FSU. The event is free and open to the public and will also be livestreamed; the link will be posted at www.frostburg.edu/concerts.Student artists will include instrumentalists Alex Frye (euphonium), Cayla Gavin (piano) and Sam White (piano) and vocalists Riley Hayes (soprano), Jelynna Horsey (soprano) and Mackenzie Taylor (mezzo-soprano). Faculty artists will include Mackenzie Jacob LaMont (marimba), Abby Lannan (euphonium), Peter B. Lewis (marimba), Michael Welch (tenor) and Joseph Yungen (piano).The program will include Two Part Invention by Philip Sparke; 3 Visions II.
