Frostburg Ranked Fifth in NCAA Super Region 1 Football Rankings

The Frostburg State Football team appeared as the fifth-ranked team in the second set of the NCAA Super Region One rankings.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Frostburg State Football team appeared as the fifth-ranked team in the second set of the NCAA Super Region One rankings.

Having been named in the initial rankings, where schools are organized in alphabetical order, the team now can visualize where they stand among the region's best teams. The Bobcats currently sport a 6-2 record both overall and within the region, with a win over 10th-ranked New Haven earlier this season. FSU sits tied for second in the MEC standings, as both Charleston (WV) and Fairmont State also appeared in the rankings at third and eighth, respectively.

These NCAA rankings help determine which seven teams from each of the four Super Regions will make the NCAA Playoffs. The committee will announce one more set of updated rankings next Monday, Nov. 6, and will unveil the final rankings with the announcement of the playoff field Sunday, Nov. 12.

There are multiple factors taken into consideration to determine the playoff fields, including in-region winning percentage, winning percentage against Division II opponents, weighted strength of schedule, head-to-head competition, results against common opponents, results against teams above .500, results against ranked teams and the NCAA performance indicator.
