BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Senior Cat Smith was named MEC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the opening week of competition. The award was announced on Monday by the league office and is presented by The Health Plan.
During Frostburg's two-game week to start the season, Smith scored the team's first goal of the year in the Bobcat's 1-0 opening win over Shippensburg, while also helping provide a shutout for FSU on the defensive end. Over the span of two games, Smith led Frostburg's defense to allow just 16 total shots for their opponents, only nine which were on goal.
